The traditional celebratory lunch before we leave is always a treat. Anticipation and connection. Catch up with the kids and we are off on the adventure. Dropped off at the airport so we do not have to park, hug and a kiss goodbye and we scurry in.
Bradley Airport
A late afternoon flight works on the start end, yet is tougher on the otherside. We arrive at 5:00am, day is dawning… and we are yawning… still only midnight by our clock… a full day ahead. Driving on the left for the three hour ride… maybe we should have started in the city… but
Recipe for trip- nothing keeps it more interesting than contrast. We decided life has been hectic… start with tranquil.
Blockley, England
If it’s tranquility you want… meet the Cotswolds. The primrose cottage is the quintessence of English charm. We were struck by the quiet .. little road traffic or city noise…okay quiet is not the right word. The babbling brook hosts 2 little falls and rushes through the backyard. The mourning dove couple who nest out back coo continuously. The path at the end of Brook Lane winds to a lovely narrow road lined with mustard colored stone cottages. A walk to the village center… stop at the church which boasts to be the home of Fr. Brown ( well and God the father) on to the co-op shop where the locals and the renters share a morning space. Fresh baked bread, jar of homemade jam. Small box of washing powder ( hurray for a washer) some arugula and after a large “flat white” we are ready to start our day….
